However, there are a few fruits that may actually make symptoms worse. For example, citrus fruits contain citric acid, which can aggravate joint pain and inflammation. Pineapples also contain a compound called bromelain, which can have a similar effect. In addition, tomatoes are acidic and can contribute to joint pain. While these fruits should be avoided by people with arthritis, there are many other fruits that can help to ease symptoms. These include cherries, which are rich in antioxidants, and bananas, which contain potassium and magnesium.
